As you already said, there are a couple mixdown issues. I was sitting here loving aspects of the instrumentation but I was totally not planning on giving this more than 3.5 stars because the drop just wasn't coming and I was getting tense as fuck. Then 1:30 comes around and that kick comes in. That's when I decided this music is easy to jam to.
Sorry to hear about your head too, mate.

CidiousClef responds:

I'm glad you liked it. I was actually messing around with the structure a bit to see what I could do with a really long buildup, wasn't entirely sure what I was doing. I end up with half a song of buildup, decide to make the drop totally worth it.

I guess it worked?

Not half bad. The ending kind of hurt but that's a compliment to the rest of the song. The way the string part shifts chords and the low strings make that bass waver really hits me right. I love the ambiance I feel there could've afforded to be more of it as a con.

In every sense of the phrase: "Holy fucking shit". This is spectacular! That glitchy synth next with a pristine snare next to it makes the best contrast. Professional work right here!

Neon-Bard responds:

Hahaha! That's a great compliment, thanks! :) I'm glad you think there was a nice contrast between the instruments and effects because that was my intent.

Really great. The way you move between phrases is really impressive and so smooth!

stunkel responds:

Thanks! :D

Wow. That was splendid man. The title fits it so well, because all I can picture is a symbolic phoenix arising from all the turmoil about it. Really, the arpeggiating bit at 1:30 was so cool and just mystifying. I also really loved that cello behind the synth just kind of supporting the chords. Only negative to me was just simply that the drums clogged my sub-woofer, but that's probably my fault. So all in all, this is a five star work. This is really the centre of good if there ever was one!

Neon-Bard responds:

Thanks for listening Koxyx, it's great to know that you liked it!

As for the drums, that was not your fault at all (or your sub). It means that I need to pay more attention to the mixing of my music! :)

This is basically classical, despite the trance kick and such. The continuous melody and progression of the chords keeps it classical more than anything. At any rate, it really picks up at about a minute, and that was where I decided it was a 5 star song. I love the percussion in this and how it really fits in behind the strings and yet the whole song remains...ambient somehow. Really, good stuff.

Neon-Bard responds:

Thank you very much! I'm a little surprised that you said it remained somehow 'ambient'...
I never would have thought of it like that. :)

Very pretty but a problem here lies. It reminds me of clouds, undoubtedly, and the orchestration as I can get beneath the somewhat out of place bass drum is the majesty of sky. What I find lacking is that it is really a lot going on, but nothing in particular as far as a melody goes. The strings are pretty, and it really had me from 2:20 onward, and the little trills in the flute were good; so much so that I would've turned up the volume to hear them.
The bass drum, as already mentioned, is just really sharp so that it distracts me. What I like in the percussion, however is the cymbal crashes, and of course the rhythm itself that the snare and bass drum snare.
So really, beautiful stuff, but the lack of familiarity in melody with the sharp bass drum were all that is worth fixing for it to be truly great.

Neon-Bard responds:

Like others, you're most definitely right about the percussion. I've sense fixed the drums but haven't gotten around to uploading the new file. I'll keep this in mind for future pieces all the same! I'm glad you found the song to be 'beautiful'! I'm starting to see what others have been saying about the piece being a little overbearing as well.

Thanks for taking the time to review the song, the feedback is definitely helpful! :)

The swells in the strings are great. The whole composition has the mood you were looking for; very forlorn and sad. The piano has a beautiful part.

MarkySpark responds:

Appreciate you stopping by to listen.

Pretty cool stuff! Once the drums came in I was grooving. IT's a very cool melody and the background chirps are a nice harmony. I can't say I'm in love with the timbre of the bass wobble, but that's just a little to thick for my taste. Not to mention the song is a little too repetitive.

Not a lot of continuity, if that makes any sense. The drums were a tad all over the place. The electronic beeping was cool but a little ear-grating. The melody doesn't really flow, it is just kind of sounds that are played next to eachother. While there isn't anything inherently terrible here, I must say that it just doesn't catch my fancy.

armandragon responds:

:((

Hiya, I love writing music and I want to go to college for it hopefully. Let me know what you think of my work and I'll do you the same!
